It is a disturbing novel... A carousel of emotions while reading it: first slightly bored, then curious, then moved, and finally surrendered! A clean but powerful writing, which I believe contributed to the Nobel Prize that Ishiguro won. The novel's story revolves around a boarding school where children are educated to be “special”; and I'll say no more, anyone who wants to be surprised will have to read Ruth's memoirs. It remains to be said that Kazuo Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954, and has lived in Great Britain since he was five.
