The Brothers Karamazov (Dostoiévski)

The Brothers Karamazov

The novel focuses on the Karamazov family in far-off 19th-century Russia, or even better, on Fyodor Pavlovitch Karamazov and his three children, four worlds that will be joined by others that surprise us page by page: the patriarch, who became rich thanks to dowry of two women he married; Dmitri Karamazov, paranoid, violent and jealous; Ivan, the middle child, in the figure of an intellectual; Alexi (or Alyocha), the nicest but also surprising.
The father and eldest son are fighting over a young woman, Grushenka, beautiful as the moon and sometimes evil as snakes, madness close by. The tragedy arises that I won't describe, I'm just mentioning that it's one of the most fascinating books I've ever read, because in addition to the fantastic imbroglio, there are different views of the world, from the characters in the story to the lot of readers I'm part of.
